Laurus nobilis

Laurus nobilis is an evergreen shrub or small tree native to the Mediterranean region and widely cultivated for its aromatic leaves, commonly known as bay leaves. The dried leaves are used as a spice in cooking and have a long history of use in traditional medicine. The essential oil from Laurus nobilis contains compounds such as 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol), sabinene, and linalool. It has demonstrated antimicrobial, antifungal, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and immunomodulatory activities in various studies. Traditionally used to treat gastrointestinal issues (such as bloating and flatulence), stomach aches, coughs, hypoglycemia symptoms, neuralgia, epilepsy symptoms (in folk medicine), parkinsonism symptoms (in folk medicine), poor appetite and for wound healing. Laurus nobilis is also used in the perfume and soap industries due to its aromatic properties[1][2][4][5][7].
