Laxatan

Laxatan is an over-the-counter combination laxative developed by Cassella-Med for the symptomatic treatment of chronic constipation. The formulation consists of macrogol 4000, inulin, and a blend of electrolytes including magnesium citrate, calcium citrate, and potassium chloride. Macrogol 4000 acts as an osmotic laxative by binding water in the intestinal lumen, which increases stool volume and softens consistency to facilitate evacuation. Inulin is included as a prebiotic fiber to promote the growth of beneficial bifidobacteria and lactobacilli in the gut. The electrolyte components are intended to maintain the user's mineral balance, preventing electrolyte shifts often associated with laxative use. It is typically supplied as a granulate for oral solution.
