Laybon

Laybon is a botanical drug product developed by Mather's Pharm, primarily indicated for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. It is formulated as an oral tablet and serves as a generic or equivalent version of the reference product Layla (developed by PMG Pharm). The medication consists of a standardized 75% ethanol extract derived from twelve traditional medicinal herbs: *Chaenomelis Fructus*, *Achyranthis Radix*, *Acanthopanacis Cortex*, *Cibotii Rhizoma*, *Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix*, *Clematidis Radix*, *Angelicae Gigantis Radix*, *Cnidii Rhizoma*, *Gastrodiae Rhizoma*, *Carthami Flos*, *Gentianae Scabrae Radix*, and *Glycyrrhizae Radix*. Laybon exerts its therapeutic effects through a multi-target mechanism that includes the inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and the suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta). These actions contribute to its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and chondroprotective effects, helping to alleviate pain and improve joint function in patients with degenerative joint disease. It has been evaluated in Phase 4 clinical trials in South Korea to confirm its efficacy and safety relative to the originator botanical drug.
