Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LB-01 is a preclinical-stage small molecule prodrug developed by Lento Bio for the treatment of presbyopia (age-related near-vision loss). Administered as a topical ocular eye drop, LB-01 is designed to restore lens elasticity by reducing age-related disulfide crosslinks in crystallin lens proteins. This mechanism effectively mimics the protective antioxidant role of glutathione, which naturally declines with age, leading to the stiffening of the eye's lens. By targeting the underlying molecular cause of lens rigidity, LB-01 aims to provide a therapeutic alternative to corrective lenses or surgical interventions for presbyopia.
