Overview
LB-CDL19 is an oral, engineered live biotherapeutic product (eLBP) being developed by LysinBio for the treatment of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). The therapeutic is based on LysinBio's CMic technology, which utilizes an engineered probiotic strain (specifically Escherichia coli Nissle 1917) designed to express a bacteriophage-derived endolysin targeting Clostridioides difficile on its cell surface. This approach allows for targeted lysis of C. difficile in the gut without disrupting the broader microbiome, offering a potential alternative to traditional antibiotics and fecal microbiota transplants.
