Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LB-P6 is a single-strain microbial therapeutic being developed by LISCure Biosciences. [2] It is classified as a Live Biotherapeutic Product (LBP) and is under investigation for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, with a primary focus on rheumatoid arthritis. [2, 3, 5] The drug has demonstrated efficacy equal to or greater than first-line treatments for rheumatoid arthritis in animal models and has also shown therapeutic potential in other autoimmune conditions like psoriasis. [3, 14] A Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT05053165) in Australia has been completed, confirming its safety and tolerability in healthy volunteers. [2, 4] LISCure Biosciences plans to advance LB-P6 into Phase 2 trials for various autoimmune diseases. [3, 14] The initial DOID codes also suggest a potential link to metabolic conditions like non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and metabolic syndrome, and it has been mentioned in literature related to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
