Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LBS-009 is a small molecule drug developed by Belite Bio, a subsidiary of Lin BioScience. It acts as an anti-RBP4 oral therapy targeting liver diseases, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), as well as type 2 diabetes (T2D). The drug works by competing with retinol for binding to retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4), preventing RBP4 from interacting with transthyretin and leading to its removal from circulation via renal filtration. This mechanism is believed to have therapeutic potential for treating metabolic diseases associated with elevated RBP4 levels.
