LBS-020

LBS-020 is an investigational recombinant human lubricin (rh-Lubricin/PRG4) biologic developed by Lubris BioPharma for the treatment of radiation-induced xerostomia (dry mouth). Lubricin is a large, mucin-like glycoprotein naturally found in synovial fluid and on mucosal surfaces, where it functions as a primary boundary lubricant to reduce friction and protect tissues. In patients with head and neck cancer who have undergone radiotherapy, damage to salivary glands leads to a loss of natural lubrication. LBS-020 is administered as an oral rinse or mouth drop to coat the oral mucosa, providing mechanical lubrication and exerting anti-inflammatory effects by binding to receptors such as CD44 and inhibiting Toll-like receptors (TLR2 and TLR4).
