Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LBT-SA7 is a six-valent multivalent toxoid vaccine candidate designed to prevent skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs) caused by the bacterial pathogen Staphylococcus aureus, including methicillin-resistant strains (MRSA)[1][2][3]. The vaccine contains weakened forms of S. aureus toxins (toxoids), aiming to neutralize these secreted toxins and thereby prevent infection[1][3][4]. It is the first multivalent S. aureus vaccine based entirely on secreted antigens[1]. Preclinical studies demonstrated strong neutralizing activity against S. aureus in animal models[3][9]. LBT-SA7 is being developed by LimmaTech Biologics AG and originated from AbVacc/Integrated Biotherapeutics[2], with support from CARB-X funding for clinical development[1][6][7].
