Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LBVE01 is a 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) developed by LG Chem for the prevention of invasive pneumococcal disease and pneumonia caused by *Streptococcus pneumoniae*. The vaccine is designed to elicit a protective immune response against 13 specific serotypes of the bacteria (1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14, 18C, 19A, 19F, and 23F). It utilizes conjugate technology, where purified capsular polysaccharides from each serotype are chemically linked to a carrier protein (typically CRM197) to enhance immunogenicity, particularly by inducing a T-cell dependent response. LBVE01 has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials (such as NCT03549208) to assess its safety and immunogenicity in healthy adults, often in comparison to the established reference vaccine Prevnar 13 and a 15-valent candidate, LBVE02.
