Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LBVE013 is a 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) being developed by LG Chem to prevent invasive pneumococcal disease and pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae. The vaccine utilizes a conjugation technology where capsular polysaccharides from 13 different serotypes of S. pneumoniae are covalently linked to the CRM197 carrier protein, a non-toxic mutant of the diphtheria toxin. This conjugation converts the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens, thereby enhancing immunogenicity, particularly in infants and young children. LBVE013 is designed to provide similar serotype coverage to established vaccines like Prevnar 13 and has progressed into Phase II clinical trials to evaluate its safety and immunogenicity in healthy infants.
