Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LBVE014 is a 14-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV14) developed by LG Chem for the prevention of invasive pneumococcal disease caused by *Streptococcus pneumoniae*. The vaccine consists of capsular polysaccharides from 14 distinct serotypes of *S. pneumoniae*, each individually conjugated to the CRM197 carrier protein, a non-toxic mutant of the diphtheria toxin. This conjugation process is designed to enhance the immune response, particularly in infants and young children, by converting T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens that induce immunological memory. LBVE014 was developed as an expansion of the 13-valent pneumococcal vaccine (LBVE013) to provide broader protection against additional serotypes. It has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety and immunogenicity compared to established pneumococcal conjugate vaccines.
