LC-1016 is an investigational small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic developed by Chengdu Xinzhenghe Pharmaceutical Technology for the treatment of hyperlipoproteinemia(a). It is designed to specifically target and degrade the mRNA encoding apolipoprotein(a) [Apo(a)], which is the unique protein component of lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]. By utilizing the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway to silence the expression of the *LPA* gene in the liver, LC-1016 aims to reduce the synthesis and circulating levels of Lp(a). Elevated Lp(a) is a genetically determined, independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, and calcific aortic valve stenosis. LC-1016 is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled single ascending dose clinical trial to assess its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in adult participants with elevated Lp(a) levels.
