Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LC262-1 is an investigational oral small molecule G protein-coupled receptor 119 (GPR119) agonist being developed by LG Chem for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. GPR119 is a lipid-sensing receptor primarily expressed in pancreatic beta cells and intestinal enteroendocrine cells. Activation of GPR119 by LC262-1 stimulates the secretion of insulin and incretin hormones, such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), in a glucose-dependent manner. This dual mechanism of action helps to improve glycemic control while minimizing the risk of hypoglycemia. LC262-1 has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in healthy volunteers and patients with type 2 diabetes.
