Overview

LCAR-C182A is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy targeting Claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2), a tight-junction protein highly expressed in certain gastrointestinal cancers such as gastric and pancreatic cancer. The drug is designed to genetically modify a patient's own T cells to express a CAR that recognizes CLDN18.2 on tumor cells, leading to targeted immunologic cytotoxicity against these cancer cells[1][2]. Developed by Nanjing Legend Biotech and the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, this investigational therapy was evaluated in phase 1 clinical trials for advanced gastric carcinoma and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma but development was discontinued after early-phase studies[1][2].
