Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LCR Regenerans is a proprietary, total freeze-dried culture of the probiotic strain *Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus* Lcr35 (previously known as *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* Lcr35). [14, 24] It is a live biotherapeutic product designed to restore and maintain a healthy microbial balance in the body, particularly in the vaginal and gastrointestinal tracts. [17] The mechanism of action involves colonization, production of lactic acid to lower the pH, formation of a protective biofilm that inhibits pathogenic organisms like *Candida albicans* and *Gardnerella vaginalis*, and modulation of the host's innate immune response. [6, 13, 24] It is marketed as a medical device for regenerating the vaginal flora and is also being developed as a pharmaceutical for preventing recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis, bacterial vaginosis, and other conditions.
