LCTA-3344 is a novel small molecule 1-substituted isatin-5-sulfonamide that acts as a potent apoptosis inducer. Developed for the treatment of breast cancer, it has demonstrated significant antiproliferative activity against both hormone-sensitive (MCF7) and hormone-resistant (MCF7/HT) breast cancer cell lines. Research indicates that LCTA-3344 induces apoptosis through a p53-independent mechanism, making it a promising candidate for overcoming endocrine resistance in breast cancer therapy. In preclinical studies, the compound showed a nearly twofold increase in activity against tamoxifen-resistant sublines compared to parental lines and exhibited strong synergistic effects when combined with AKT inhibitors, particularly AKT Inhibitor IV.
