Overview

LD09163 is a first-in-class small molecule antagonist of the Transient Receptor Potential Ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) channel, developed by Shanghai Leado Pharma for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. TRPA1 is a non-selective cation channel expressed on sensory neurons and various non-neuronal cells that plays a pivotal role in mediating neurogenic inflammation and visceral pain. By inhibiting TRPA1 activity, LD09163 is designed to attenuate the inflammatory response and mucosal damage in the gastrointestinal tract. The compound received Investigational New Drug (IND) approval from the U.S. FDA in May 2024 and is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
