Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LDE-etoposide is a lipid-based nanoformulation of etoposide that utilizes a lipid nanoemulsion delivery system. The LDE particle mimics the structure of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and is designed to target cancer cells that overexpress LDL receptors. This formulation aims to improve the therapeutic index of etoposide by enhancing tumor cell uptake while reducing systemic toxicity. The etoposide component works by inhibiting DNA topoisomerase II, preventing DNA re-ligation and leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells.
