Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LDGraft is an innovative combination product for spinal fusion that utilizes encapsulated recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) within a biodegradable polymer. This formulation delivers a biomimetic, extended release of rhBMP-2 during spinal fusion procedures, specifically targeting bone defects in anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF). The encapsulation provides dose shielding during the early inflammatory phase and shifts the protein's availability to the repair phase of bone healing, addressing issues seen with conventional surface-bound rhBMP-2 delivery, such as excessive early inflammation. LDGraft is designed to optimize bone growth and fusion at the surgical site. It has received FDA Breakthrough Device designation for ALIF, and is being evaluated in prospective clinical trials. Developed by Locate Bio, it incorporates a proprietary protein encapsulation technology and an osteoconductive scaffold[1][2][3][4][5][7][9].
