LDP + CDP1

LDP + CDP1 is an experimental combination therapy consisting of a live biotherapeutic product (LDP) and a carbohydrate-derived prebiotic (CDP1). Developed by Evelo Biosciences, this combination was designed to modulate the immune system through the SINTAX (Small Intestinal Axis) pathway. The LDP component typically refers to a specific strain of non-colonizing, single-strain microbes (such as *Bifidobacterium animalis* subsp. *lactis* or similar candidates like EDP1815), while CDP1 acts as a specific nutritional substrate to enhance the microbial activity or host response. The program was primarily investigated for the treatment of inflammatory diseases, including psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, by leveraging the small intestine's role in systemic immune regulation without requiring systemic absorption of the drug components.
