Overview

LEAG is a standardized, lyophilized water-extract of American ginseng (*Panax quinquefolium*) root, developed by Southern Illinois University for the treatment of breast cancer. Formulated as 250-mg gelatin capsules, it is being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials to assess its impact on tumor biomarkers and inflammatory mediators in patients prior to surgery. The therapeutic effect is attributed to its ability to modulate key inflammatory pathways, specifically by reducing the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and inhibiting the activation of the p65 subunit of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB). The preparation is certified for ginsenoside content and purity, representing a botanical approach to targeting the inflammatory microenvironment of breast tumors.
