Drug intelligence / Profile preview
lecozotan SR + citalopram is a combination of lecozotan SR, an investigational selective serotonin receptor 1A (5-HT1A) antagonist, and citalopram, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used primarily for depression. The combination was evaluated in at least one clinical trial (NCT00538889) for potential synergy in modulating serotonergic activity and cognitive enhancement. Citalopram acts by inhibiting the serotonin transporter (SERT), increasing extracellular serotonin levels and enhancing serotonergic neurotransmission[1][3][8]. Lecozotan SR is designed to antagonize 5-HT1A receptors, a mechanism thought to facilitate neurotransmitter release and possibly improve cognition.
