Leeloo

Leeloo is a combined oral contraceptive (COC) pill containing the synthetic estrogen ethinylestradiol and the progestin levonorgestrel. It is primarily indicated for the prevention of pregnancy in women. The drug's mechanism of action involves the suppression of gonadotropins, which inhibits ovulation. Additionally, it alters cervical mucus to impede sperm penetration and modifies the endometrium to reduce the likelihood of implantation. Leeloo was part of a portfolio of specialty women's health products sold by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries to CVC Capital Partners in 2017, which subsequently formed the basis of the specialty pharmaceutical company Theramex. It is typically administered as a daily tablet and is available internationally, often as a branded generic.
