Overview

Leflutrozole is an orally active, non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor developed by Mereo BioPharma and Novartis. It is designed as a once-weekly therapy for the treatment of hypogonadism in men, particularly those with obesity-associated hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. Leflutrozole works by inhibiting the enzyme aromatase (CYP19A1), which converts androgens to estrogens, thereby increasing luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels in men. The drug has completed Phase 2b clinical trials for male hypogonadism but was discontinued for endometriosis[1][5][7][8].
