Lefrex

Lefrex is a branded generic antibiotic containing levofloxacin, a third-generation fluoroquinolone. Marketed by SBM Enterprises (also known as SBM Pharmaceuticals) in India, it is typically available as a 500 mg oral tablet. Levofloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent that works by inhibiting the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are critical for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination; their inhibition leads to bacterial cell death. Lefrex is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including community-acquired pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and infections of the ear, nose, and throat.
