Lencanavir is an investigational drug administered via injection, currently being studied for the nursing care of patients with mild cognitive impairment and mild dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease (AD). Alzheimer's disease is characterized by the deposition of amyloid beta (Aβ) plaques in the brain and the formation of neurofibrillary tangles due to excessive phosphorylation of tau protein, leading to memory impairment, aphasia, loss of function, dementia, and impairment of visual spatial ability, often accompanied by changes in personality and behavior.
