lenti-CCR5-KD is an experimental gene therapy construct consisting of a lentiviral vector designed to deliver a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) sequence that targets and knocks down the expression of the C-C chemokine receptor type 5 (CCR5). In the context of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) research, this agent is used to investigate the role of the ORM1-CCR5 signaling axis in the pathogenesis of the disease. By reducing CCR5 levels in fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS), lenti-CCR5-KD inhibits the aggressive cellular phenotype characterized by excessive proliferation, migration, and invasion. This intervention aims to alleviate synovial hyperplasia and reduce the inflammatory response in the joints, suggesting a potential therapeutic strategy for RA.
