Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LENTI-COVID-03 is a preclinical-stage, lentiviral vector-based vaccine candidate being developed by Theravectys, in collaboration with the Institut Pasteur, for the prevention of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2). The vaccine utilizes a non-integrative lentiviral vector platform pseudotyped with the vesicular stomatitis virus G glycoprotein (VSV-G) and incorporating DNA flap technology to efficiently transduce non-dividing dendritic cells in vivo. This targeted transduction stimulates robust, long-lasting systemic and mucosal humoral (antibody) and cellular (T-cell) immune responses. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that intranasal administration of LENTI-COVID-03 as a booster dose induces strong mucosal immunity, including anti-Spike IgA and resident memory B and T cells in the lungs, providing complete protection against SARS-CoV-2 variants such as Delta and Omicron.
