A lentiviral vector expressing Japanese encephalitis virus-like particles is an experimental gene-based vaccine platform designed to induce immunity against the Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV). The construct uses a recombinant lentiviral vector (such as the TRIP/JEV system) to deliver genes encoding the prM and E envelope proteins of JEV, leading to in vivo production and secretion of non-infectious virus-like particles (VLPs). Immunization with this platform has been shown in animal models (mice and pigs) to elicit robust humoral immune responses, including high titers of neutralizing antibodies effective against multiple JEV genotypes. This approach aims primarily at preventing JEV infection in domestic pigs—a key amplifying host for human transmission—as part of a "One Health" strategy for controlling disease spread[1][2][3][4]. The mechanism of action is based on gene therapy-mediated expression of viral antigens that stimulate protective antibody responses.
