Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lento Bio is developing a preclinical small molecule topical eyedrop therapy for the treatment of presbyopia (age-related farsightedness). The drug targets Advanced Glycation End products (AGEs) and protein crosslinking within the ocular lens, which are primary drivers of lens stiffening. By reducing molecular damage accumulation and breaking or preventing these crosslinks, the therapy aims to restore lens elasticity and improve accommodative function. This approach represents a disease-modifying strategy targeting the underlying physiological causes of presbyopia rather than just managing symptoms with corrective lenses.
