Overview

LEO 22811 is an investigational oral small molecule drug developed by LEO Pharma for the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris. It is part of a new generation of highly selective p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase inhibitors and is designed to provide broad anti-inflammatory activity, including inhibition of cytokines central to the pathogenesis of psoriasis. The drug has completed phase 1 and phase 2 clinical trials in both healthy volunteers and patients with psoriasis. Its precise mechanism of action remains undisclosed but is believed to involve selective inhibition within the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway, which plays a key role in inflammatory processes associated with psoriasis[1][3][6][8].
