Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LEOFOR is a sterile hyaluronic acid solution developed by HAN Biomedical for intravesical administration. It is designed as a glycosaminoglycan (GAG) replenishment therapy to restore and protect the bladder's mucosal lining. In conditions such as interstitial cystitis (IC) and bladder pain syndrome (BPS), the natural GAG layer of the urothelium is often compromised, allowing urinary irritants to penetrate the bladder wall and cause inflammation and pain. LEOFOR provides exogenous hyaluronic acid to rebuild this protective barrier, thereby shielding the underlying urothelium and alleviating clinical symptoms. It is typically classified as a medical device in various jurisdictions due to its mechanical mode of action.
