Overview
Lepidoglyphus destructor extract is a biological allergen preparation developed by Inmunotek S.L. for the treatment of Type I hypersensitivity reactions to the storage mite *Lepidoglyphus destructor*. Commonly found in agricultural settings and stored food products, this mite is a significant trigger for allergic rhinitis and asthma. The extract is used in allergen immunotherapy (AIT) to desensitize patients by repeatedly exposing them to controlled doses of the allergen, thereby promoting immunological tolerance. Inmunotek provides this extract in various platforms, including the sublingual spray Oraltek and the subcutaneous alum-precipitated suspension Alunitek. The therapeutic goal is to modify the underlying allergic disease by inducing peripheral T-cell tolerance and shifting the immune response from a Th2-dominated allergic profile to a Th1/Treg-mediated profile.
