Leptin A-200

Leptin A-200 is a long-acting engineered form of recombinant human leptin (Fc-leptin), designed for weekly dosing. It is a protein hormone analog that mimics endogenous leptin, which is primarily produced by adipose tissue and regulates energy balance by suppressing appetite through hypothalamic pathways. Leptin acts via the leptin receptor (Ob-Rb), activating JAK-STAT and MAPK signaling to reduce food intake and modulate metabolism. Leptin A-200 was developed as an anti-obesity agent but was not effective in producing significant weight loss in clinical trials compared to placebo or other agents such as caffeine/ephedrine[1][4][8]. The drug has also been studied for its effects on fat mass and metabolic parameters but did not show significant benefit over controls.
