Leptospermum petersonii methanolic extract is an experimental research compound derived from the leaves of the lemon-scented tea tree (*Leptospermum petersonii*), a plant native to Australia. The extract contains a complex mixture of bioactive phytochemicals, including the flavonoid 6-methyltectochrysin and various terpenes. It has demonstrated significant antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, particularly against multi-drug resistant bacteria such as *Bacillus cereus*. In oncology research, the extract has shown potent cytotoxic effects against melanoma, cervical, pancreatic, and prostate cancer cell lines. Its mechanism of action involves the induction of apoptosis, characterized by the activation of Caspase 3/7 and the upregulation of the tumor suppressor genes RB1 and CHEK1, which are involved in DNA damage response and cell cycle regulation. It is currently an academic research tool with no commercial pharmaceutical development.
