Overview
Leridistim is a recombinant chimeric protein that acts as a dual agonist for the granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) receptor and the interleukin-3 (IL-3) receptor. It binds with high affinity to both receptors, stimulating hematopoietic progenitor cells and promoting the proliferation and differentiation of multiple blood cell lineages. Leridistim was developed primarily as a supportive care agent to reduce neutropenia in patients undergoing chemotherapy for cancers such as breast cancer and acute myeloid leukemia. It has been evaluated in clinical trials comparing its efficacy to filgrastim (G-CSF), but G-CSF was found superior in preventing febrile neutropenia[2][5][9].
