Overview
Lesogaberan + esomeprazole is a combination therapy comprised of lesogaberan, a GABAB receptor agonist, and esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor. Lesogaberan acts by inhibiting transient lower esophageal sphincter relaxations (TLESRs), which are a primary cause of reflux events in gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Esomeprazole reduces gastric acid secretion by blocking the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme in the parietal cells of the stomach. The combination is intended as an add-on strategy for patients with GERD who do not achieve adequate symptom control with esomeprazole alone. The combination has been investigated in clinical trials for pharmacokinetic interactions and was found to have no clinically significant interaction and to be well-tolerated in healthy subjects[1][2].
