A let-7f inhibitor is a research-grade oligonucleotide designed to bind and neutralize the microRNA let-7f. In the context of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), let-7f has been identified as significantly downregulated in bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) compared to healthy controls. Experimental inhibition of let-7f in these cells has been shown to impair BM-MSC proliferation, increase apoptosis, and disrupt the balance between regulatory T (Treg) and T helper 17 (Th17) cells. This effect is mediated through the upregulation of interleukin-6 (IL-6), a direct target of the let-7 family, and the subsequent activation of the STAT3 signaling pathway. While primarily used as a laboratory tool to elucidate disease pathogenesis, the manipulation of let-7f expression in BM-MSCs is considered a potential therapeutic strategy for treating SLE patients.
