let-7f mimic is a synthetic double-stranded RNA molecule designed to emulate the biological activity of the endogenous microRNA let-7f. In patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), let-7f expression is significantly downregulated in bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs), contributing to an imbalance between regulatory T (Treg) cells and T helper 17 (Th17) cells. By restoring let-7f levels, the mimic targets and suppresses the expression of Interleukin-6 (IL-6), thereby inhibiting the activation of the STAT3 signaling pathway. This molecular intervention has been shown to improve BM-MSC proliferation, reduce apoptosis, and promote an immune-regulatory environment by upregulating Treg cells and downregulating Th17 cells, suggesting therapeutic potential for SLE and other autoimmune disorders.
