Letroblock

Letroblock is an approved small molecule aromatase inhibitor containing the active ingredient letrozole. Developed and marketed by Dr. Pfleger Arzneimittel, it is primarily indicated for the endocrine treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. The drug works by competitively inhibiting the aromatase enzyme (CYP19A1), which is responsible for the final step in estrogen biosynthesis—the conversion of androgens to estrogens. By significantly reducing systemic estrogen levels, Letroblock inhibits the growth of estrogen-dependent tumor cells. It is used in various clinical settings, including the adjuvant treatment of primary breast cancer, extended adjuvant therapy following five years of tamoxifen treatment, and as a treatment for advanced or metastatic breast cancer to prevent further spread.
