Letrozole + recombinant follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) is a combination regimen used primarily in ovulation induction protocols for infertility treatment, especially in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or unexplained infertility. Letrozole is a third-generation aromatase inhibitor which suppresses the conversion of androgens to estrogens, thereby reducing estrogen-mediated negative feedback on the hypothalamic-pituitary axis and stimulating endogenous gonadotropin release. Recombinant FSH is a biologic hormone preparation that directly stimulates follicular development in the ovaries. This combination is used to promote controlled ovarian hyperstimulation during assisted reproductive techniques (ART) such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF). Co-administration of these drugs can lower the required FSH dose and may reduce the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation while maintaining or improving pregnancy rates.
