Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Letrozole LEBE is a long-acting intramuscular injectable formulation of letrozole developed by Laboratorios Farmacéuticos Rovi. It utilizes Rovi's proprietary ISM (In Situ Microparticles) technology, which is designed to provide a sustained-release profile of the drug over several weeks or months. Letrozole itself is a third-generation non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor that works by competitively and reversibly binding to the heme group of the cytochrome P450 subunit of the aromatase enzyme (CYP19A1). This inhibition prevents the conversion of androgens to estrogens, effectively depriving hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer cells of the estrogen required for their growth. The LEBE formulation aims to improve patient adherence and maintain more consistent therapeutic plasma levels compared to the standard daily oral administration of letrozole.
