Overview

Multikine (leukocyte interleukin, injection) is an investigational biologic immunotherapy consisting of a defined mixture of naturally occurring human cytokines. Derived from stimulated healthy human donor leukocytes, it contains a cocktail of interleukins (IL-1, IL-2, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12), interferons (IFN-gamma), tumor necrosis factor (TNF-alpha), and colony-stimulating factors (GM-CSF). Developed by CEL-SCI Corporation, Multikine is designed to mimic the body's natural multi-cytokine immune response to cancer or viral infections. Its primary clinical development has focused on neoadjuvant treatment for advanced primary squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN), where it is administered prior to standard-of-care surgery and radiation/chemotherapy. It has also been investigated for the treatment of perianal condyloma (warts) and cervical dysplasia, particularly in immunocompromised populations such as HIV-infected patients.
