Leuprorelin + follitropin alfa is a combination of two injectable hormonal agents used primarily in assisted reproductive technology protocols, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). Leuprorelin is a synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist that initially stimulates, then suppresses, the pituitary release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), leading to downregulation of endogenous gonadotropins. Follitropin alfa is a recombinant form of human FSH that directly stimulates ovarian follicular development. The combination allows for controlled ovarian hyperstimulation by first suppressing natural cycles with leuprorelin and then stimulating follicle growth with exogenous FSH from follitropin alfa[1][2][4][6][7].
