Levamlodipine + valsartan (AGSAV301) is an oral fixed-dose combination drug developed for the treatment of hypertension. It combines levamlodipine (the S-enantiomer of amlodipine), a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits L-type calcium channel in vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle to reduce blood pressure, with valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that antagonizes the angiotensin type 1 receptor to promote vasodilation and lower blood pressure. The combination aims to provide additive antihypertensive effects by targeting two different mechanisms involved in blood pressure regulation.
