Levetiracetam + lorazepam is a combination of two pharmaceutical drugs used primarily in the management of seizures, including status epilepticus. Levetiracetam is an anticonvulsant that acts mainly by binding to synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A (SV2A), modulating neurotransmitter release and stabilizing neuronal activity. Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine that enhances the inhibitory effect of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) at GABA-A receptor, increasing chloride ion influx and hyperpolarizing neurons to reduce excitability. Both drugs are approved for seizure control; their combination may be used when rapid seizure cessation is required or when monotherapy fails[1][5][8].
