Overview

Levilactobacillus brevis KABP-052 + Lactiplantibacillus plantarum KABP-051 + Pediococcus acidilactici KABP-021 is a probiotic combination developed by AB-Biotics (a company of the Kaneka Group) and marketed under the brand name Gyntima Menopause. This formulation consists of three live bacterial strains in a 2:1:1 ratio. The combination works by modulating the estrabolome (gut bacteria that metabolize estrogen) through beta-glucuronidase (GUS) enzyme activity, which increases estrogen deconjugation and helps sustain estrogen levels in the body. It is indicated for managing menopause symptoms in peri- and post-menopausal women. The lead strain, Levilactobacillus brevis KABP-052, was selected for its high capacity to deconjugate estrogen, while the other two strains were chosen for their ability to inhibit opportunistic pathogens and improve gut homeostasis. Clinical studies have shown that after 12 weeks of supplementation, the blend sustained estrogen levels compared to placebo in women aged 45-55. These same strains have also been studied for oral health applications, including gingivitis treatment and reduction of dental plaque.
