Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Levitude is a combined oral contraceptive (COCP) developed and manufactured by Ati Pharmed. It is a monophasic formulation containing a combination of the synthetic estrogen ethinyl estradiol (0.03 mg) and the synthetic progestin levonorgestrel (0.15 mg). Levitude primarily works by suppressing the secretion of gonadotropins (luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone), thereby inhibiting ovulation. Additionally, it alters the cervical mucus to prevent sperm penetration and modifies the endometrium to reduce the likelihood of implantation. Beyond its primary indication for the prevention of pregnancy, Levitude is also utilized to regulate menstrual cycles, manage dysmenorrhea, and reduce the risk of ovarian cysts.
