Overview
Levobunolol is a nonselective beta-adrenergic antagonist (beta-blocker) used as an ophthalmic solution to lower intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It acts by blocking both beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptors in the eye, leading to a reduction in aqueous humor production and thereby decreasing intraocular pressure. Levobunolol does not have significant local anesthetic or intrinsic sympathomimetic activity. The drug is administered topically as eye drops and can produce systemic effects due to absorption through the conjunctiva. Its primary indication is for the management of elevated intraocular pressure associated with glaucoma and ocular hypertension[1][2][3][4][5][8].
